Troy’s Moose Shirt

I have to admit that if I were to guess if a boy or girl child would care more about what they wear, I’d guess the girl. But if the girl and boy I am talking about happen to be my Troy and my Ella, the boy actually cares a lot more. While Ella cares some about her clothes, she really isn’t picky and she really doesn’t have favorite shirts or outfits. She certainly didn’t care as much as Troy does at Troy’s age.

However, Troy has a few favorite shirts: anything with Mickey Mouse, his old-man Buzz Lightyear pajamas, and his moose shirt. He’s liked moose for a while, and when I saw the shirt, I knew he’d like it, although I had no idea how much he’d like it. Along with his Mickey Mouse shirts, he often requests to wear his moose shirt. It is funny to me that an almost-two-and-a-half year old boy would pay so much attention to his clothes. : )

“Daddy cut my hair!”

Back in November Troy's hair was starting to get a bit ragged.

We personally like his hair to be neat and short, and Trent and I had discussed that he would just buzz his head when we officially decided it was time for the  hair cut. One day when Ella and I were out shopping, I got a call from Trent telling me that he had successfully cut Troy’s hair. I was SHOCKED because I thought it would take both of us to hold him during the process, but Troy actually cooperated with Trent.

However, the haircut wasn’t exactly what I had imagined. It was, uh, a bit shorter. I also didn’t realize how blonde his hair is (which made him look almost bald!). (please ignore the poor quality cell phone pic)

Everyone we saw was shocked by his hair, and, of course, rubbed his head and asked him who cut his hair. He’d say, “Daddy cut my hair!”

Although it was shorter than I expected, his little buzzed head was pretty cute, especially after it grew out some.

It has grown out quite a bit now, and he even needs a trim. :) The other day I was playing a game with him to get him to identify some of his body parts. When I pointed to his hair he said, "Daddy cut my hair!"

#ohElla

120713IMG_6226.jpg

#ohElla : a collection of the sweet, funny, and quirky things Ella has said over the past two years or so

  • Ella: "I hear the rain talking on the car!" Ruby: "what's it saying?" Ella: "dribble dribble drop"
  • Me: “I need a big ol kiss.” Ella: ”I already gave you a kiss!”
  • “Are Simba and monkey your friends?” Ella: “Nope, simba's a dog and monkey's a girl!”

  • Looking at the letters on the basket while shopping: “E for Ella, A for apple, I for Ikea!”
  • "I don't like butter. I like ketchup"
  • Ella:"Where is that train going?" Me: "I don't know" Ella: "I think Daddy knows.
  • (After I had been putting ice on my hurt ankle): "Do you need more icing?”
  • As I'm pouring Ella a cup of juice, she asks what I'm doing. When I tell her she says, "Good idea, Mama!"
  • "I need some money for my pocket!"

  • After Trent threw Ella up in the air and caught her, she said "that was a good catch daddy!"
  • "I have a tree! I have a tree!" Ella singing "I have a dream" from Tangled
  • I told Ella she had some tasks to do. She's walking around saying "I think I've done all of my taxes"
  • "If I don't have any more birthdays I'll just keep getting littler"
  • "I had to go check on Mama. She's playing in her kitchen"
  • "Mama! Troy is having a lot of fun with me!"
  • "My neck is hurting. Cuz I've been talking a lot."
  • Trent to Ella: "Where is heaven?" Ella:"In God's mouth"

Reeses to the Rescue

Ella was SO sad when I didn't grab her immediately out of her crib.

Then she sees Reeses, and she isn't quite so sad.

It is funny how suddenly life is just fine when Reeses is there to help out. (And, yes, Ella stuck her foot through the crib and said "toes, toes!")

I'm glad that Reeses can prevent meltdowns!

Shutter Love Tuesdays: Bloopers

I love this photo of my husband and daughter. My husband was trying to help out when I was taking pictures by picking Ella up . . .and she did NOT want to be picked up for pictures (in case you can't tell!).

Be sure to check out all the bloopers at the Trendy Treehouse this week!

Building Her First Fort

I bought a bean bag with the purpose of using it for newborn pictures, thinking that an added bonus would be that Ella would enjoy sitting on it as well. Turns out she also enjoys using the bean bag, plus the box it came in, plus some couch pillows to build her first "fort." She drug the box, bean bag, and pillows all around - it was so cute!

Boots

Ella has been obsessed with putting items into different things. I think it might be her favorite activity right now. For example, she loves to put the shapes in her singing cookie jar. Ella also loves to put her shoes in the cookie jar, or her blocks in the dog food bowl, or her shapes in her dad's boots. That's right, she decided it would be fun to put her shapes in her dad's boots.

I can only hope that Ella's obsession with putting things into other things lasts until she's old enough for it to be useful. Like putting dirty clothes in the washer. Or dirty dishes in the dishwasher.

A Girl and Her Fruit Loops

Dad gave Ella some fruit loops. Some she ate . . .some she shared with Reeses.
Ella was so proud that she fed Reeses a fruit loop, but then was confused as to why Reeses didn't give the fruit loop back.
Later on . . . Ella managed to get the box of fruit loops. Now, if only she could open it and get the fruit loops out.
Still trying . . .
Still trying . . .this is tough work!
Success!

There are no words . . .

When I caught Ella doing this new trick, I almost died laughing. I was so upset because I didn't have my camcordernearby, but she did it again, and this time I was prepared. :) By the way, ignore my shaky recording (and that the sound is a little quiet) . . .I was sitting kind of far away so I had to zoom in a lot and I was afraid if I got up she'd quit doing it. Oh, and it is shaky because I am trying to hold in my laughter.

By the way, Ella was playing in the Fisher-Price Precious Planet Jumperoo when she started blowing raspberries on her arm. She loves her jumperoo!
