Happy 3 Months Annie!

Wow, these three months have flown by! Though I'm not sure how much you weigh, every time I carry your carseat, place you in your swing, or pick you up out of your bassinet in the middle of the night I notice how much you've grown. You also have the cutest rolls on your legs - I really need to get a picture of your chubby legs before the rolls disappear!

 

And, speaking of picking you up in the middle of the night . . . I've been doing a lot more of that lately! Last month you were sleeping fairly consistently 9-10 hours, but not so much this month. Overall you are still a pretty good sleeper, but it seems like your pattern lately has been to sleep 5-7 hours, and then are up every hour after that.

You are slowly transitioning to a phase where you can be contented with us talking to you or entertaining you. There are still times where you must eat to be happy, but you are definitely learning there is more to life than eating!

 

You started sitting in your Bumbo this month. Sometimes you like it, and sometimes not so much. One of the first times you sat in it, you sat contently for 15-20 minutes!

You haven't started sucking your thumb yet, but right now I think you'll end up being a thumb-sucker. You chew on your hands and fingers, and you are getting better coordinated with your hands. You also grab your blankets sometimes and chew on them.

 

This month I got quite the surprise when I was trying to catch a smile on video - you actually giggled at me. I was talking to you saying "I love you Annie Jane!" over and over, and you kept grinning at me. And then you giggled at me! It was great!

You also really like to talk to us. Here's a short video of a few of your coos talking to me. Your voice is so, so sweet! So far, I think you look the most like Troy, and I also think you like to talk as much as Troy at times!

Happy 3 Months Luke!

It is amazing that in such a short time you can change so much. Those brand new baby days are gone, and have been replaced with a baby who really responds and interacts with us.

You have become very vocal this month. You love to  have a “conversation” with us, particularly when you first wake up in the morning. I love how you smile and respond to us! You are very expressive, and I love to see the faces you make.

You’ve been sleeping even better at night in the past few weeks. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been putting you down between 9-10 and you’ve been sleeping from anywhere to 6-8. It is wonderful! I also feel like we’ve gotten into a pretty good bedtime routine and you go down pretty easy.

We’ve had quite a bit of cold weather lately, and though you don’t like the cold you do like to be outside. You don’t like your football hat though, even though I love it. : )

I love to watch you with Ella and Troy. They love it when you talk to them and smile at them. Troy will tell us: “He’s grinnin’ at me!” In the picture above Ella decided (on her own) that she was going to read a book to you. It was precious!

You have really enjoyed sitting in your bumbo seat. I think you like being up where you can see all the action going on around you (and I don’t blame you!). You are still not a fan of your pacifier, though you’ll suck on it every now and then for a couple of minutes. You haven’t found your thumb yet either, but you do suck on your hands sometimes, and it wouldn’t surprise me if you get your thumb soon. Several times when you have been sleeping I’ve noticed that your mouth moves as if you had a pacifier, but you don’t have your hands or your pacifier in your mouth. It is pretty cute to watch though!

Happy 3 Months Troy!

Happy 3 Months Troy! This post is a little late . . . between Christmas and our family passing around a stomach bug, I haven't had a good opportunity to write this post.

You love to be talked to (which is a good thing since I'm sure Ella will talk your ear off as y'all get older!). You smile so big when anyone talks to you, and my heart melts when I see how you smile when Ella talks to you. You've also started "talking" back to us with lots of baby talk. You respond with "agooo" when I tell you that I love you. You sister used to say the same thing.

You've started sitting in your Bumbo seat this month. Sometimes you like to sit in it, and sometimes you don't. Ella loves to sit in your Bumbo seat too. :) You rolled over once from your belly to your back, but you were laying on the couch at the time, so you may have had a little help from the couch not being completely flat. You haven't rolled over yet on the floor.

Although you don't consistently sleep through the night yet, you have started sleeping better at night. Many nights we put you to bed (for the final time) around midnight, and you slept until around seven. It is nice to get a longer stretch of sleep at night!

Although you seem content in the picture below, you really hate riding in the car unless we are driving on windy country roads. This month has been a big test of our patience when you scream in the car as we've been traveling around throughout the holiday season. I really wish I knew why you hated riding in the car so much - we'd fix the problem if we knew what it is was!

I can't wait to see what the next month holds for you! We love you so much!
